Now for the back verandah roof

We are really happy with the way the new house roof looks.  It’s lifted the house up so it doesn’t sit so heavy on the block.  Peter’s taken off the back verandah roof and has been spending time drawing up ideas for how to replace it, hoping anyone over 5′ 8″ can stand at the edge without bruising their forehead… and that’s not a joke!

Plan A, plan B, plan C and now finally plan D inspired by the house around the corner in the picture above.  A floating roof using a product called Cooldek.  So that’s the plan ’til the quotes come back in and blows the budget for that area!

Question is… are we out of touch with how much this will really cost?

Back to the drawing board to work out the details.

Watch this space 🙂

  1. Does the weather come from the south/east if so this could be a problem. Another option could be to lower the deck height and come straight out at roof level. Have fun. – Rayne.

    1. Thanks Rayne. In the end the calculations worked out that the Cooldek with Peter doing the install is cheaper than any other solution. We keep reminding ourselves that we’ve got to keep the budget and limited time frame in mind. Your idea would link the garage/laundry well though. Back deck roof is off now and order in for wood and Cooldek. Drop in soon and check it out! Megs said she was happy to catch up with you guys today 🙂
